Dyslexia affects 1 in 5 kids, and it is not something that can be outgrown. Unfortunately, dyslexia can often go undiagnosed, and a child’s struggle in school can be misattributed to a lack of intelligence or effort. It is important to recognize that having dyslexia does not mean a child is not intelligent, and a dyslexic who is reluctant to read is not lazy.
Everyone can learn to read. However, kids with dyslexia require more practice, support at home, and the correct approach to reading instruction.
